Biography

Chantal KESTELOOT is a doctor in contemporary history. Since 1992, she is member of the permanent staff of CegeSoma/State Archives where she is currently in charge of the department Public History (http://www.cegesoma.be/cms/chantal_fr.php?cnvis=821741).

Her main fields of interst are the history of Brussels and the memory of the First and the Second World War.

She coordinates the website www.belgiumwwii.be and currently prepares the book "Bruxelles, ville libérée (1944-1945)" in the series "Villes en guerre" (Renaissance du Livre) as well as an exposition about the Liberation of Brussels (Halles-Saint-Géry, September 2019).

She is secretary of the Fédération internationale d’Histoire publique.
