Opening hours Wednesdays and Thursdays upon appointment: from 9.00 am to noon and from 1.00 pm to 4.30 pm.

News

As of 7 December, the readign room of the National Archives of Belgium  2 - Joseph Cuvelier repository shall be open 2 days per week, on Wednesdays and Thursdays.


What do we preserve?


The National Archives of Belgium 2 – Joseph Cuvelier repository preserves:

  • the archives of
    • the external services of the Federal Public Service Justice (penal institutions)*,
    • the courts and tribunals under the responsiblity of the Brussels-Capital Region (justices of peace, police tribunals, Court of Cassation, etc.)*,
    • the Federal Public Service Economy (patents),
    • the Ministry for Reconstruction (files on war damages)
  • business archives.
* Attention! The justice archives and the archives of the courts and tribunals are currently moved from the State Archives Anderlecht to the National Archives of Belgium 2. Please make sure to contact us before your visit to make sure the documents you wish to consult are available.

Archives already transferred to the NAB 2:
  • Justices of peace and police tribunals of the Brussels-Capital Region
  • Tribunal of first instance of Brussels – civil tribunal
  • Tribunal of first instance of Brussels – youth tribunal
  • Tribunal of Commerce of Brusselss
  • Public prosecutor's office of Brussels
  • Court of Appeal of Brussels

Who is who?

Head of section: Pierre-Alain Tallier.
Archivists: Luis Angel Bernardo y Garcia, Sigrid Dehaeck, Joachim Derwael, Gertjan Desmet, Pascale Falek and Caroline Six.
Reception, reading room and stacks management: Laurent Ceressia, Jean-François Francq, Alexander Heymans, Jean-François Meert, Marie-Louise Oomen and Olivier Van Weyenbergh.
Interior maintenance: Fatima Ait Laghchim, Fatima Chabira and Arben Gjonaj.
